ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PROGRAM
FAMILY FRIENDS
The Family Friends program provides an opportunity to build relationships that provides cultural exchange between METCO families and Lexington families with two hour playdates at a Lexington student's home 4 times per year as well as 4 weekend cross cultural group activities in the city of Boston. The program gives classmates from Lexington and Boston social time they don’t usually get in the classroom.
During individual play dates, at home, in the neighborhood or just around town, students have a chance to spend time in a more unstructured setting. Time to explore differences and discover similarities between each other, make friends and just have fun. It’s good play time!
Family Friends play dates take place once a month on Fridays starting in November. Lexington families pick up both their child and their family friend at dismissal. There is time for lunch and home play or other activities.
Between 2:45pm and 3:00pm the Lexington family brings their METCO friend back to school. The bus will be there at 3:00pm to take them home. The METCO bus monitor will be there to supervise the students as they get on the bus.

The METCO Family/Friends program welcomes our Boston-resident students and their families
to our wonderful Lexington community! Classmates and families build strong relationships by
spending play time together outside of school. Play dates for individual pairs of students occur
on 4 scheduled Friday afternoons throughout the schoolyear.
This year, there are also 4
special fun group district-wide weekend activities planned so parents and siblings can attend!
