Educational Talent Search Info

ETS is funded by the US Department of Education and sponsored locally by Midlands Technical College and provides free college, career, and financial aid information to middle and high school students in Lexington and Fairfield counties each year. Educational Talent Search identifies students who demonstrate an interest or desire to attend college and provides them with the motivation and support to enroll in a program of postsecondary education (college, university, technical, or vocational school) after high school graduation.

ETS encourages and prepares students for postsecondary enrollment by providing assigned students in grades 6-12 with the following services and activities through group workshops and individual appointments held at designated target schools. • Goal setting and/or self-esteem building

  • College awareness activities

  • Career exploration activities

  • Cultural awareness

  • Financial aid awareness activities

  • College and career field trips

  • Individual assistance with: college admissions, scholarship applications, and financial aid forms

ETS also offers FREE tutoring and counseling services to students who are in the program. Once students are accepted into the program, they remain in it throughout their high school years.
