This summer on August 12th, the Big Spring Skatepark officially opened. It is located at Symmes Park. Angela Woolett, owner of Angiecake, provided baked goods for the grand opening. “My friend Rene is part of Make It Happen and occasionally asks me to bake things for them,” Mrs. Woolett said. She also commented that skateboarders from out of state showed up, and they said that it’s a pretty impressive park. Jason Stephens and Luke Brandon were also involved in making the skatepark happen. “Now with the new pool and the skate park, Lewistown is a place where people want to live with their kids,” said Woolett. Kendrik Wright, a freshman at Fergus High School, said he couldn’t make it to the grand opening, but he still enjoys using the skatepark. “I use the skate park about 2-3 times a week,” explained Kendrik. He also commented, “skateboarding is fun and I like how it feels.” Hopefully this new skatepark will be a great addition to Lewistown.
