In the last few years, there has been a lot of controversy about kneeling during the National Anthem. There are many different opinions about this happening. Just recently in the Dallas Cowboys game against the Arizona Cardinals, the Cowboys team knelt with interlocked arms and stood up together before the anthem.

It’s no secret that this 2017 fire season has been an overwhelming disaster. As of September 6th, according to KRTV, more than 1 million acres have been burned in Montana. This fire season has easily been the worst Montanans have had since 2012 when the wildfires barely topped this year's. Fortunately after three months of fires, we have finally gotten some moisture.

Motocross and cross country racing isn't talked about too often at Fergus High School, but it should be. Two names that should come to mind when talking about dirt biking in FHS is Kole Dengel and Keaton Potter. Before meeting with them I was very unfamiliar with the topic, but after the interview I am surprised that I can now admit that I know a significant amount more than I knew before.

On Thursday, August 31, 2017, the entire Fergus High School attended a substance abuse assembly put on by a non-profit organization called TORCH. The students all witnessed a powerful testimony by Kyle Sweeney, a former Fergus graduate, that moved them and opened their eyes about what can happen as a result of addiction.

Motocross is has been proven to be the most physically enduring sport at the pro level, but what most don’t realize is physical endurance is not the hardest part on a communal level. The hardest part, especially for a group of small towns like those in Central Montana? Finding a track to ride. Adam Hershberger of Denton and Clayton Sturgill of Moccasin are trying to change that. I talked to Clayton about what we have going and what it does for a racer like him.

This summer on August 12th, the Big Spring Skatepark officially opened. It is located at Symmes Park. Angela Woolett, owner of Angiecake, provided baked goods for the grand opening. “My friend Rene is part of Make It Happen and occasionally asks me to bake things for them,” Mrs. Woolett said. She also commented that skateboarders from out of state showed up, and they said that it’s a pretty impressive park.

We all know of the old Gamble Robinson Co. Warehouse, perhaps better known as the Old Mill Building, that was located on the West Feeds site. Recently, it was demolished to make room for a new park which will contain a marketplace, pavilion, and an amphitheater.
