Atlas Alone

By Jewel Johnson, Senior

Fall 2016

Tension in my shoulders

As I push up on the world

Up up up

And almost to safety

A slip here

My legs give out

We both come tumbling down

Crushed

I start once more

Lift with my legs

As hard as I can

It shifts

And flattens me again

A hand on my shoulder

A hand to my heart

A hand to the globe

The world is lifted

Higher and higher

Together
