A Raging River

I had stumbled through my life in search of an easy way of living.
I jumped into the river, the water washed over me as I gave in to it.
I let it push me, make my decisions and choose my paths.
It was smooth and gentle with exciting moments that had never hurt me.
Going with the flow was my motto back then, but it almost killed me
A turn around the bend, the water unexpectedly sped up.
I lost control of the rapids and soon lost sight of the sky
I was pushed under, caught in a whirl pool.
The rushing water dragged me, bruised me,
I almost drowned, almost gave up, I almost let go
He snatched me from the cold harsh waters
He dried me off and helped me stand
My feet were weak, for it had been ages since I had stood on my own
But he was there to build me up
To make me stronger than the raging river
He gave me Ideas of who I am and who I could be.
Confidence developed.
Love developed.
We were invincible, inseparable, one.
He mended the wounds from the raging river.
