YEAR 2

What a wonderful start we have had to the new year! This half term we are focussing our learning on the British Woodland and the various species around us.

We began by exploring our new story, The Fox and the Star by Coralie Bickford Smith. Swans have created some beautiful poetry based on the characters and illustrations within this, exploring a range of verbs and adjectives. Mrs Wells came to visit us and was astounded by the hard work that had gone into publishing their work. We were all very proud!

In Maths completed our learning on pictograms and have begun to explore fractions. We spent some time exploring what equal parts are and how we can identify these and will be beginning to look at halves, quarters and thirds.

We are enjoying learning about animals and living things (including humans) in Science, as well as exploring our precious world and why we need to take care of our planet in RE. We have been experimenting with dynamic balance in PE and have researched healthy eating in DT. We even conducted a taste test to investigate the differences between fresh and cooked fruit, ready to design our own fruity treats.

It has been a very exciting start to the term and we are really looking forwards to finding out more about foxes and hedgehogs, particularly through our upcoming visit to The British Wildlife Centre.
