Children in year 4 have worked exceptionally hard on their reading, grammar and maths assessments this week. Well done to all children for showing determination and resilience. We are so proud of all of them!
Year 5 have been very busy with their end of year assessments in maths and reading. We are very proud of their positive attitude - well done to all of them! In maths, we have concluded our learning about perimeter and area in composite shapes. In English, we have concluded and edited our narratives based on our class text 'The Explorer.'
5G had a fantastic Financial Education trip to Metro bank in Epsom. They learnt about the difference between budgeting and saving, how to open a bank account and how to keep your PIN code safe when withdrawing money. They were fascinated by the vault (where all the safe deposit boxes are stored) as well as the Magic Money Machine (which counts coins and tells you the total value)! They were very pleased to take away their 'goody bags.' Hopefully the money boxes will inspire them to start saving!
In Year 4/5 we have been learning about planets and asteroids in science, we have found out more about features of deserts in geography and we had our last drumming practice before some of the chidren performed at Fairfield Halls.
Next week, year 4 will begin their PSHE topic, 'Changing Me' and are looking forward to their trip to High Ashurst from Wednesday to Friday!
5W are looking forward to their trip to Metrobank next week. Year 5 will conclude our end of year assessments by completing a grammar test. In English, we will start to plan a newspaper report based on the events of 'The Explorer.' In maths, we will commence our new unit focusing on calculating volume of solids and liquids.
Next week, Year 4 and 5 will be learning about beliefs and moral values in Hinduism during our PE lessons.
Children will be meeting their new teachers next week before the Year 4 trip to High Ashurst.
Year 5s will be continuing their PSHE topic.
