Year 5 have concluded writing their balanced arguments on the subject of whether April made the right decision in attempting to return Bear to his native home in Svalbard. It has been so wonderful to see how much they have enjoyed reading about April's adventures. Some of them didn't want the story to end! Look out for the sequel 'Finding Bear' by Hannah Gold.
In Maths, they have consolidated their learning about percentages.
Eagles, Falcons and Hawks concluded our Oceans topic in geography and our Materials topic in science.
In the first week after Easter, year 4 will be starting our new text, 'The Firework Maker's Daughter' by Philip Pullman. We will immerse ourselves in the opening of the story and focus primarily on Chulak, one of the main characters.
In maths, we will be continuing with length, mass and volume, converting between units of mass and estimating how long and heavy objects are.
Year 5 are very excited about their upcoming trip to Devon. Those that are staying at school have lots of fun activities planned. We will miss them and we look forward to hearing all about what they have been up to when we return to school.
The year 4 and 5 topics for the first half of the summer term include Life Cycles in science and Relationships in PSHE. We will also be looking at the Census in history and understanding how it can be used as a historical source to find out information and data about a community.
