Last week the children had a great first full week of reception. They enjoyed remembering the different animals in Monkey Puzzle by Julia Donaldson. The children got very creative in the art corner where they painted self-portraits and thought about the different colour paints needed for their facial features. The children also enjoyed playing in the water tray where they cleaned our dirty cars. PE has been a highlight of some children's day, they have loved playing games to help them with their listening and following instruction skills.
This week the children have started phonics, they have been very eager to learn the new sounds and some children have even been on sound hunts around the classroom! The children have been practicing their listening skills and have tried to recognise different sounds- like Mr Bear does in our story of the week 'Peace at Last' by Jill Murphy. The children have been trying really hard to recognise and write their names.
