This week's learning...

Year 4 have enjoyed English this week. We have looked at the features of newspaper reports and spent time researching Roman gods, before designing our own Roman god to use in our news articles next week. In maths, we  have looked at subtraction and used digital manipulatives to help us understand renaming in the column method.

In year 5 this week, we have been writing our setting descriptions of London's South Bank, incorporating adventurous vocabulary, alliteration, onomatopoeia and expanded noun phrases.  We have concluded our Maths unit on addition and subtraction, consolidating our knowledge of how to use concrete resources, number lines, and the column method to solve problems.

Eagles, Falcons and Hawks have enjoyed creating accordion books in art this week, using chalk and charcoal to illustrate The Jabberwocky poem. In science, we made our own switches and recapped our understanding of conductors and insulators. In history, we learned about the impact that the Romans had on Britain.

Upcoming learning...

Next week, year 4 will be planning and writing our newspaper reports about the discovery of a new Roman god or goddess. In maths, we will be concluding our learning on addition and subtraction.

Year 5 are very excited about our trip to the London Eye next week.  We will be editing our setting descriptions in order to further engage the reader by adding fronted adverbials and improving our vocabulary choices.  We will be commencing our unit on Multiplication & Division, and will be looking at multiples, factors and prime numbers.

Eagles, Falcons and Hawks will be completing their accordion books in art, consolidating our learning on electricity in science and finishing our learning on the Romans by understanding the chronology of Roman Britain.
