This week's learning......
English - We have started reading our new book - Letters from the Lighthouse and the children have been focusing on different types of figurative language as well as the use of direct speech within narratives.
Maths - Our next chapter is looking at measurement - children have been learning to convert different measurements of distance including converting between miles and kilometres.
Art - This term children will be exploring art and identity through the use of layers and juxtaposition. They will start by learning about artists who use juxtaposition in their art work.
Science - Children will be learning about Space this half term, we will be starting by learning about our Solar System, thinking about what is a planet and learning about the planets that make up our Solar System.
History - Our History topic this term is Ancient Greeks. We will start by looking at the key events that occurred during the Ancient Greek era and plot these onto a timeline.
PE - Children have started swimming this week - we are so proud of the way they have represented Shawley - amazing behaviour and great determination.
Upcoming learning......
English - Children will be writing a narrative linked to our book 'Letters from the Lighthouse' focusing on using direct speech and figurative language to enhance their writing.
Maths - Children will complete the measurement unit looking at converting measurement of volume. We will then be moving onto percentages.
Art - Children will be developing their skills and confidence in observational drawing by drawing portraits of each other.
History - Children will be learning about what the Ancient Greeks believed and the Greek Gods.
Science - We will be learning about movement within the Solar System looking at Heliocentric and Geocentric Models.
