A big well done to Year 2 for a fantastic start to the Spring term!
In Maths this week we have been learning about ‘Temperature’. We have been completing a weather chart throughout the week noting down the outdoor temperature and what the weather is like. We have been reading thermometers and making estimations. In Writing this week we have been highlighting features of a recount and writing a recount about our Christmas holidays. We wrote in the past tense and in chronological order. In History, we created a comic strip on who invented the first aeroplane. In Science, we thought about the materials objects were made out of and thought about whether the objects have been alive, once alive or never alive. We also created actions to represent the six different life processes which are important to all living things. In Art this week we have been learning about how artists ‘Charlie French’ and ‘Marela Zacarias’ use paint in an expressive way.
Maths: In Maths, we will be learning about ‘Fractions’. We will be comparing equal parts, halves, quarters and thirds.
Writing: In Writing, we will be writing a non chronological report on a range of different owls.
Science: In Science, we will be learning about four different types of habitats and knowing what animals and plants live in those types of habitats.
History: In History, we will be creating a freeze frame to represent the moment the first flight took flight and the feelings of the Wright brothers.
Art: In Art, we will be using both colouring mixing and mark making to make an expressive painting.
