This week's learning......
English - After reading Shackleton's Journey the children have been writing persuasive letters about why they should have joined their expedition to the South Pole. This week we have started to think about choosing exciting vocabulary to set the scene for a narrative using a video about a boy and a dog as inspiration.
Maths - We are now bringing together all our Maths learning before SATS. We have been looking at questions around fractions and using Learning By Questions to tailor Maths learning to the individual children.
History - We have started our new topic 'The Sikh Empire' and children have been learning about Maharaja Ranjit Singh and the belief systems during the period of the Sikh Empire.
Science - Children took part in a Science Day where we looked at lots of different aspects of electricity with a particular focus on resistance. We have now moved onto our new topic of 'Animals and Living Things' starting by learning about the Linnaean system.
Upcoming learning......
English - Children will be writing their narrative about the boy and the dog, focusing on their use of vocabulary to set the scene and reflect the characters emotions.
Maths - We will continue to revise key topics in preparation for SATS, including percentages, roman numerals and rounding.
History - Children will learn about why Lahore became a global trading hub and think about why Maharaja Ranjit Singh was so significant.
Science - We will be learning about warm and cold blooded vertebrates and thinking about how we classify them.
