During our English lessons, the children have started to read their new text 'A Midsummer's Night Dream' by exploring balanced arguments. The children looked at what a balanced argument was and what a good one would looked like before planning and writing their own. In maths, the children explored data handling where they interpreted and created their own pictograms and bar graphs. They have also started to explore fractions, counting in tenths and finding fractions of amounts. In our history lessons, we have started our new topic "The Romans", where we have found out why the Romans invaded Britain and how Britons felt about the invasion, specifically Boudicca. We have also started our new topic - Plants - in our science lessons and have enjoyed setting up experiments to find out what plants need to grow, survive and thrive. During financial education, we have also thought about wants and needs and how these affect our spending choices. During our computing sessions this week, the children have been creating and coding carousels using Lego - as you can imagine this lesson was a huge hit!
Next week in our English lessons, we will be creating our own spells and writing stories involving these spells. In maths we will be continuing to explore fractions, thinking about fractions equivalent fractions and comparing fractions too. In science, we will continue to explore what plants need to grow, survive and thrive and think about the structure and function of plants. In history we will be thinking about why the Roman army were so successful when invading Britain. During our art lessons, we will be exploring how we can use natural materials to create different pieces of art.
