This week's learning...

Year 3 wrapped up their Amazing Africa topic last half term with a brilliant Africa Day. The children learnt about some of the tribes in Africa, different countries in Africa and completed some Africa inspired art. Thank you for all your hard working in supporting this day. This week we started our new text 'Rhythm of the Rain' and the children enjoyed using the descriptions in the story to create their own pictures for the text. We also used our senses to describe some of the images in the story. In maths we have completed our column addition and subtraction work. The children have worked so hard to understand and use this method. In science this week, we started our new Rocks and Soils topic and learnt about some of the man-made and natural occurring rocks. In Re we began to explore Christmas - this led to some great conversations and excitement.

Upcoming learning...

Next week, we will be continuing to use our descriptive vocabulary linked to 'Rhythm of the Rain' by writing some setting descriptions. In maths we will be moving onto our 3 time tables and our 4 time tables - including division facts - it would be grewat if you could work with the children on these in preparation. Next week we will be starting our new geography topic - Misty Mountains and Winding Rivers where we will be looking at how rivers are formed and using Now Press Play to help immerse us in our learning. Our science will continue to look at different rocks, this time exploring the properties of rocks. We will also be starting to learn our Christmas songs ready for our Christmas concert.
