A huge well done to Year 2 for a brilliant start to this half term!
In Maths, we have been learning about money. We have been recognising the value of different coins and notes used in the UK. We have been making amounts to 50p in two different ways. In Writing, we have been looking at features of a descriptive paragraph. We have been using our expanded noun phrases and conjunctions to write our own descriptive paragraph on the main character Katie from the book, Katie and the Bathers. In Science, we have been learning about classifying minibeasts. We sorted a range of minibeasts based on their characteristics using a classification key. In Geography we have been learning about the characteristics of the four countries and capital cities of the UK. We located the countries on the map and then looked at physical and human features in the UK. In DT, we have been learning about how the shape of a structure affects its strength. We folded paper in different ways to improve its strength and stiffness. We then placed books on top of the structures to test its strength. Year 2 enjoyed their trip to Holly Lodge learning about what life was like for children in the Victorian Era. We also had a wonderful time visiting the Hindu temple learning about all the different gods and goddesses.
