At Brookfield we are working towards our Rights Respecting Schools silver award and children are learning about the rights of the child.
This week we have been thinking of article 32:
Article 32 (Child Labour)
You have the right to protection from work that harms you, and is bad for your health and education. If you work, you have the right to be safe and paid fairly.
Governments must protect children from economic exploitation and work that is dangerous or might harm their health, development or education. Governments must set a minimum age for children to work and ensure that work conditions are safe and appropriate.
12 June is the World Day Against Child Labour. There are 160 million children worldwide who are engaged in work which is harmful for their development and often means they can’t access their rights to be safe, healthy and have an education.
