Year 5 have had a positive and productive return to school after the Easter break. The children are motivated and engaging really well with their learning.
We have been exploring measurements in maths, revising how to use a ruler to measure, converting different units of measurements and problem solving as well. The children have been working exceptionally hard to expand their learning!
In writing we have enjoyed starting a new text called 'The Explorer'. We are all excited to see where our next mystery will take us when we learn that four children have crash landed in the Amazon rain forest. We have written creative diary entries and have compared some of the characters from the story.
Our new story links nicely with our new Humanities Topic called 'South America'. We are learning about he geography of the continent while also exploring the climate and habitats of South America.
We have started a new topic in Science 'Animals including Humans'. So far we have learned about the gestation periods of different animals and we have explored the growth of a fetus in the womb; we learned some fascinating facts.
We are learning about he life cycle of humans and understating how we progress through the ages starting as a baby right up to an elderly person- it is very interesting.
Moonstone class enjoyed cricket lessons with a specialist teacher- much fun was had by all!
