What a fantastic start to the year - we are so proud of how the children are adjusting to life in Year One and thank you for your support in settling them in.
Although we are being careful not to overwhelm the children with the more formal structure of year one, they have still been extremely busy! In maths, we have started using the Maths No Problem books and the children have found out how a tens frame can help us count and organise objects. We have ordered numbers to ten and begun to learn how to spell the number words. We had great fun in science labelling parts of our bodies and in RE we found out about the Hindu festival of Rahki. The children made posters to show how this festival celebrates the love between brothers and sisters.
This week we had our Teddy Bear's Picnic when our bears came into school and the bears were all very well behaved!
Your login details for reading have been sent home this week as our reading groups have now started. Please log on each evening and read the book assigned to your child as this reinforces the reading we have done in class. Remember to sign their reading diary to say they have read - we want all the children to get their reading awards!
