Welcome back to our School Community and what an action packed start we have had!
We are extremely proud of how the children have returned after the summer holidays and we are so pleased to announce they have all settled well into their new classes and routines.
We hope you will find our fortnightly newsletter beneficial as it contains key dates and information, and it also shares with you what our pupils have been doing.
Please provide us with any feedback on how we could improve our newsletter to bfoffice@leoacademytrust.co.uk

What a great start we have had to the sporting year at Brookfield!
We have already taken part in two friendly football events against other LEO schools, which over 22 children from Year 6 were able to participate in.
The first took place at Cheam Park Farm, where we played two football matches vs Cheam Park Farm and Cheam Common Juniors. The first game ended with a draw against Cheam Common and the second match resulting in a narrow defeat vs Cheam Park Farm. Both games were played in great spirit and the team showed amazing teamwork in their first event of the year!
The second event took place at Brookfield. We invited Manor Park and Cheam Common over to play in another friendly competition this time with a whole new team. The first match to Cheam Common ended and defeat , however the team showed superb resilience to bounce back and beat Manor Park 3-0 with the goals being scored by Ermiya, Suleman and Sameer.
Both teams put on amazing performances and should be so proud of how they got on! They represented the school with pride and determination to never give up!
Healthy Schools London is an Awards Programme that will reach out to every London child, working with schools to improve children and young peoples's wellbeing. At Brookfield, we encourage all children to eat healthily, whether that is through their lunch box choices or the school dinner option they select. We are proud to say that at the end of the last academic year, Brookfield achieved the GOLD AWARD status!
Artsmark is the only creative quality standard for schools and education settings, accredited by Arts Council England. The Artsmark recognises schools with outstanding arts provision. We are extremely proud of our staff and pupils for their hard work in achieving the Artsmark Silver Award. We are committed to delivering a high-quality arts and cultural education and we look forward to continuing to grow with Artsmark.

We are pleased to be taking part in the annual Macmillan Coffee morning event to raise much needed funds to support people living with cancer.
It is a special event held together to raise awareness and funds and is close to the heart of many within our community.
If you wish to donate to this worthwhile cause please click here or scan the QR code.
We will be hosting our event in the school hall on Friday 30th September at 9am and will be offering teas, coffees and a lovely selection of cakes. We understand many of you would like to attend the event but have work commitments, so we will also be offering a take away service to support you in making a difference and grabbing a hot drink and cake.
In addition, if you would like to contribute by baking a cake for our event or by providing a shop bought cake, these would be gratefully received by the school office from Wednesday 28th September. Please remember no NUTS!
We would also like to involve the children in this event so any leftover cakes will be on sale in the playground at the end of the day.
We look forward to seeing you for coffee and cake.

This year we are still promoting our love of reading and the teachers have been busy creating areas in classrooms for the children to enjoy and take pleasure in their reading. We are in the process of launching a book club through our partnership with Cheam Park Farm and Shawley and will send more information when the finer details have been finalised.
I would like to take the opportunity to explain how our reading rewards will work this year. We will only be counting a maximum of two reads per day towards the certificates. This will allow a before or in-school read, as well as an evening read at home. The following awards are given Bronze 50 reads, Silver 150 reads, Gold 250 reads and Platinum for 300 reads.
Mrs. Holmes
Reading Lead
A big well done to the following children who took part in Sutton's Summer Reading Challenge. They received a certificate and a book for taking part.
Jessica Robert, Nga Yin Lam, Brandon Pok Yin Cheung, Jasper Pok Hei Cheung, Claire Leung and Rose Kenneally.
Last week, was our first Celebration Week of the school year. Each half term, the whole school explores a different festival that usually takes place close to that time. This time, the children learnt about the Hindu festival of Raksha Bandhan, also known as Rakhi. Each year group studied a different aspect of the festival in their RE lesson and examples of their work can be seen on the Brookfield Celebrates board in the main corridor. Well Done everyone, your work looks amazing.
