Welcome from the Chair of Trustees
Thank you for putting your time and expertise to good use as an Academy Committee member, Member or Trustee. Academies really could not exist without your commitment to the role.
At LEO Academy Trust, we are proud to serve over 4300 pupils from across the London Borough of Sutton and Surrey. Our Trust was formed in 2015. Since then, we have developed a self-improving network of great learning communities formed from seven primary schools, supported by a range of hubs of excellence, providing endless opportunities for our pupils, staff and the local communities we are part of. With over 700 staff, our schools are empowered to support each other to improve both outcomes for our pupils, and to drive performance across the wider school system. We are proud that our schools are members of the Challenge Partners Network of Excellence and the Belleville Teaching School Alliance. Learning, Excellence and Opportunity are at the heart of our Trust, embedded through our shared mission, values and aims.
LEO Academy Trust is now growing quickly in size and reputation. This growing recognition means others are investigating whether their academy can join us too. More academies means a greater depth of expertise and knowledge and it is our belief that sharing expertise, knowledge and resources is the best way to improve academy education across the whole MAT.
All successful academies share the presence of effective academy governance; it is a vital ingredient in the long term achievement of an academy. I hope the information contained within this handbook will be useful to you. Throughout the year, I encourage you to share your thoughts and experiences through the LEO Academy Committee Members Forum and Trustee/Member Open Days so that we can continue to develop and learn from each other.
Thank you once again for your on-going commitment to our academies and the educational experience our children receive.
