What a busy and brilliant last couple of weeks it's been in Year 5! This week, for Arts Week, Year 5 embarked on a vibrant artistic adventure of colour mixing using paints! The children explored different styles and techniques, before creating their own unique interpretations, using map templates. It was wonderful to see their artistic flair, using watercolours to bring their maps to life. Each map tells a unique story, reflecting the individual creativity of its artist. In geography, we've been exploring extreme environments, focusing on deserts. To deepen their understanding, the children were tasked with creating persuasive posters about why people should live in the desert. This wasn't just about listing facts; it challenged them to think critically about the unique advantages and ingenious adaptations that make desert life possible. They researched fascinating aspects like sustainable architecture, water conservation, and the rich biodiversity found in these seemingly barren lands. The posters are not only informative but also beautifully designed, showcasing their research and presentation skills. Our class text, 'Treason,' has truly captured our imaginations, taking us back to the tumultuous times of the Tudor court. To further immerse themselves in this historical period, our English lessons saw the children step into the shoes of a key historical figure: Anne of Cleves. They have been diligently writing diary entries from her point of view, imagining her thoughts, feelings, and experiences during her brief and complicated marriage to King Henry VIII.
As the school year closes, we've been so impressed with the enthusiasm and dedication shown by all the children this year. They truly couldn't have worked harder. They have exceeded expectations and now have the tools they need to embark on their journey into Year 6.
