This week we have been learning about:
Maths - we have been recapping our previous learning from throughout the year, including: measuring length, capacity and mass and using our knowledge to solve two-step word problems.
Writing - we learnt about alliteration and similes and used them to describe Tower Bridge and the surrounding area.
Science - we have been finishing off our plant pots - hopefully we will be able to bring them home and grow a plant in them soon!
Geography - we have been writing as geographers and describing the human and physical features of a coastal area.
Art - during arts week, we have been looking at using oil pastilles to draw around a continent stencil before painting over it in water colours.
This week, your class teacher should have sent home your child's end of year assessments. Next week we will be looking at where the gaps in our knowledge were when we did these tests and doing some revision lessons based on them. You might want to have a look through at the maths, reading, grammar and spelling assessments to see where your child has done particularly well this academic year and areas that could use some extra work.
As part of our transition plans this year, we would like to invite parents to come to the Kingston Site on Monday 14th July or Tuesday 15th July for a performance of some of the songs that we have learnt so far this year. Please arrive at 1:50pm via the gate by the school office where you will be taken into the school hall. The mini-show will start at 2:00pm.
Lavender and Mulberry classes will be performing on Monday 14th July.
Saffron and Emerald classes will be performing on Tuesday 15th July.
At this time, we will also go through the 1:1 Chromebook information and a few things that will help ease the transition from Molesey Site to Kingston Site. Afterwards, we will then take you to the playground where the Year 3 children are usually collected at the end of the school day so you can see how it will work from September. You can then collect your child and leave with them from the Kingston Site. This will happen at 2:50pm so that all parents and children are off site by 2:55pm and able to make your way to collect siblings as necessary. If you are not able to attend the meeting, the remaining Year 2 children will walk back to the Molesey Site with their class teacher at 2:55pm so that they are ready to be collected at the usual time and place.
On Monday 14th July, Saffron and Emerald classes can be collected from Molesey site as normal.
On Tuesday 15th July, Lavender and Mulberry classes can be collected from Molesey site as normal.
After the 1:1 Chromebook presentation, there will be a QR Code that you will have to use to complete a form so that your child can take their Chromebook home with them next academic year. If you do not complete the form, your child will not be able to take their Chromebook home with them in Year 3.
