What a busy couple of weeks it has been for Year 6! In maths, we've been delving into the fascinating world of 3D nets, learning how flat shapes can be folded to create solid figures. We've also honed our geometric skills by drawing precise triangles and quadrilaterals. In English, the children have passionately completed their persuasive letters to the Mayor of Budmouth Point, advocating for saving the German pilot as he is injured. Our science topic has sparked a lot of excitement as we've begun exploring circuits, batteries, and switches. We've even learned the various symbols used to represent each component, laying a solid foundation for future experiments. In Design and Technology, the creativity is flowing as we've established our design criteria for the steady hand games, ensuring they'll be both challenging and engaging. And of course, we had a fantastic World Book Day! The children thoroughly enjoyed the quizzes and art activities, celebrating the joy of reading and storytelling. Did you know that the longest book in the world is Marcel Proust's "In Search of Lost Time," containing approximately 9,609,000 letters? We hope the children’s love of reading continues to grow!
Over the next couple of weeks, we will be learning:
Maths - Position and movement
Writing - We will be looking at poetry and diary entries.
Reading - focusing on vocabulary and understanding of the text.
Science - We will be looking at components and circuits.
History - We will be looking at evacuation and women's roles in World War 2.
