This half term our is 'Things that move (Animals)'. We have read the books 'Dear Zoo' and 'Walking Through the Jungle' and have worked very hard on learning the Makaton signs for the animals in the stories.
In Maths this term we will be focusing on one number each week. Last half term we looked at the numbers 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. So far this half term we have focused on the numbers 6 and 7. We have also been looking at how we can make those numbers (e.g. 1+5= 6, 2+4=6 and 3+3=6). We continue to work on careful counting, using our finger to help us keep our place when counting.
In Phonics we continue to learn about one phoneme (individual sounds) per week. Over the past 2 weeks we have looked at 'u' (upset, under and umbrella) and 'r' (rainbow, red and rabbit). Every week we continue to work on our segmenting and blending skills, which help us to break down the different sounds in words and then blend them together again to remake the word (e.g. r/e/d & r/a/t).
In R.E. we have started learning about Spring and have been looking for signs of Spring in the Nursery garden.
In PSHE we have been learning about healthy choices and learning about how exercise is good for our hearts.
In P.E. we have been practising our ball skills, working on passing the ball in different ways using our hands and feet.
We enjoyed celebrating World Book Day by dressing up as our favourite book characters and reading lots and lots of books!
