Reception has sprung into action for Spring 2, and we're so excited about our new 'Creatures' topic! Last week, we delved into the delightful world of mini beasts with the story 'What the Ladybird Heard,' and then became intrepid explorers on our very own mini beast hunt. We discovered all sorts of fascinating creatures hiding in our school environment! This week, we've been captivated by 'The Three Little Pigs,' and our young writers have been working hard to create sentences describing the pigs' houses, focusing on sounding out those tricky words. We've also transformed into farmyard experts, describing and sorting farm animals, and even testing our listening skills by identifying animals from their sounds.
Our creative minds are also hard at work as we've begun our Design and Technology project. Towards the end of the term, we'll be designing and sewing our very own bookmarks. To prepare, we've been practicing our threading and weaving skills, which are proving to be both fun and challenging. We're looking forward to seeing the wonderful creations our Reception children will produce! We can't wait to see what other exciting adventures await us in the world of creatures.
