What a fantastic and busy few weeks it's been in Year 3! Our pupils have been diving deep into new topics across the curriculum and showing brilliant focus and enthusiasm.
In Maths, we've been tackling the challenge of column addition. The children have worked incredibly hard to master carrying and lining up the digits correctly. It’s a crucial skill, and we are so proud of how quickly they've grasped it! Keep practising those number facts at home using Century to help with their speed.
In Writing, we’ve unleashed our imaginations by crafting detailed setting descriptions. The quality of vocabulary has been superb, with pupils using powerful adjectives to create expanded noun phrases and descriptions of the senses to transport the reader to a cave full of wonder and mystery. They’ve really focused on "showing, not telling" the reader about the setting.
Our Science lessons have been truly bone-chilling (in a good way!). We have investigated the human skeleton, learning all about the functions of bones—like protection, movement, and support. Ask your child to name a few bones they've learned about; you might be surprised by their knowledge of the femur or rib cage!
A huge thank you to Curie Class and Darwin Class for their incredible enthusiasm during their final Forest School sessions. They’ve spent the last few weeks exploring the natural environment with boundless energy.
And a warm welcome to Anning Class and Newton Class, who have now started their first set of sessions! Please ensure they come to school with appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear on their Forest School days so they can get the most out of this wonderful experience.
As always, thank you for your continued support with homework and reading at home.
