This half term our theme is 'All about me' as we settle into Nursery.
Over the past 2 weeks we have been reading the books 'Sometimes I feel sunny' and 'Head, shoulders, knees and toes'.
While we read 'Sometimes I feel sunny' we thought about different emotions and what can make us feel these different emotions. We also learnt the Makaton signs for 'happy' and 'sad'.
In Phonics we went on a listening walk around the school and playground to listen to what we could hear. We heard so may different sounds, such as people talking, the gate opening, planes flying over us, cars, the wind, a hand dryer and children playing.
We spent a carpet session learning how to draw a face, thinking about the facial features we could add, such as eyes and a mouth. We thought about how many eyes we had and whether the mouth should be a smiley mouth or a sad mouth.
We have had a great time using our fine motor skills to make models out of recycled and reused materials. Some fantastic creations were made and we worked hard on out cutting and sticking skills.
We continue to work on our play skills, building friendships and learning how to use the sand timer for sharing and waiting for our turn.
