Year 6 have had another busy and productive fortnight! In English, we unleashed our creativity by writing non-chronological reports on some amazing lizards dreamt up by the children themselves – expect some fantastical creatures and fascinating facts! Maths saw us tackling the tricky topic of multiplying and dividing decimals. It was a challenge, but the children showed great perseverance and made excellent progress. Our science lessons explored the fascinating world of shadows, with investigations into how they form and change. In geography, we delved into important current affairs, examining the differences between migrants and refugees, and discussing the factors that might push people away from or pull them towards living in a particular country. This week also saw us focus on staying safe online with a timely and informative Internet Legends assembly presented by Google.
Over the next couple of weeks, we will be learning:
Maths - BODMAS and measurement.
Writing - writing a narrative based on a chapter from our class text Holes.
Reading - focusing on vocabulary and understanding of the text.
Science - looking at how light helps the use of periscopes and mirrors .
