Year 5 have enjoyed another exciting couple of weeks. They have been busy chefs in DT, whipping up a delicious homemade bolognese sauce, learning about measuring ingredients, nutritional values, following recipes, and the importance of hygiene in the kitchen. They also designed their own labels to take their sauce home. In English, they delved into the fascinating world of narwhals. They researched these mysterious creatures, learning about their unique characteristics and the challenges they face in the Arctic. The children wrote informative non-chronological reports, showcasing their research skills and creative writing abilities. They've also been experimenting with reversible and irreversible changes in science. Through hands-on activities, they've observed how certain substances can change form and then return to their original state, while others undergo permanent transformations. Finally, in geography, they have learnt about the stunning city of Innsbruck, Austria. They've explored its picturesque landscapes, learned about its rich history, and discovered the unique culture of the region.
Over the next couple of weeks, we will be learning:
Maths - Graphs
Writing - Newspaper report
Geography - 'What is life like in The Alps?' Comparing Cheam with Innsbruck
Science - 'Properties and Changes, ' Irreversible changes.
