In English over the last two weeks Year 1 have enjoyed reading the story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff. We have written a retell of the story using some of the story language. In maths we have been exploring number to 20. We have compared numbers by finding how many more and how many fewer. In science we have investigated absorbency. We dropped water onto different materials to find out which ones absorbed the water. We made it a fair test by dropping the same amount of water on each material. The children have really enjoyed our Windmill DT project and were pleased with their final products! In geography we created our own maps of the playground. We created our own symbols and included a key.
After Half term:
Maths - We will be continuing adding and subtracting with in 10 . We will also be learning about position and ordinal numbers (1st, 2nd, 3rd etc), as well as move onto numbers to 20.

Geography - In geography we will be exploring our school environment to answer the question 'Where in the world are we?'
