It has been a fantastic start to the new school year in Year 3. The children have settled in brilliantly and have been enjoying their new classrooms and catching up with friends on the playground.
In our maths lessons, we’ve been busy exploring the concept of place value, learning how to work with ones, tens, and hundreds. The children have made excellent progress and have been confidently using these skills to solve problems.
Our class text, 'How to Wash a Woolly Mammoth' has been a huge hit. The children have loved reading the hilarious instructions and have used the book to help them identify nouns, adjectives, and imperative verbs. They have then used this knowledge to write their own fantastic set of instructions on how to wash a mammoth!
In history, we have travelled back in time! We’ve been learning all about prehistory and how to use a timeline. The children have also learnt the meanings of BC (Before Christ) or BCE (Before Common Era) and AD (Anno Domini) or CE (Common Era) and have enjoyed putting key events in order.
Finally, in science, we’ve been exploring the human body. The children have enjoyed learning about the different parts of the human skeleton and have been busy remembering the names of some of the main bones.
We are so proud of how well the children have started the year. We look forward to sharing more of their wonderful work with you soon.
