NURSERY
What an amazing half term we've had! As we reach the end of this first chapter of the school year, I wanted to take a moment to share how incredibly proud we are of every child in the class. They have all settled in so wonderfully, not just to the classroom environment, but also to our daily routines. It's a real joy to see their confidence grow each day!
We have continued to immerse ourselves in our topic, "People That Help Us," and the children have been enjoying a huge variety of activities and learning tasks. Our most recent focus on vets has been a massive hit! Our classroom surgery has been a hub of activity, with children diligently looking after the animals, administering cuddles, and even carefully giving out 'medicine'. It's been wonderful to see their gentle care and role-playing skills in action.
The classroom has also been sparkling with festive learning! We had a lovely time learning all about the festival of Diwali and everyone was so pleased with the beautiful, colourful, rocking diya lamps they made to celebrate the Festival of Lights.
And finally, to cap off this wonderful half-term, we've had a truly spectacular final week. The children absolutely adored our science activity involving fizzing pumpkins! They thoroughly loved mixing all the ingredients together to create a fantastic, bubbling reaction. Outside, our time at Forest School was just as delightful, with the children having a cosy and memorable time toasting brioche rolls over the fire.
We wish you and your family a very restful and relaxing break. Thank you, as always, for your continued support. We very much look forward to welcoming the children back, refreshed and ready for more learning, on Tuesday, November 4th.
RECEPTION
The autumn term has flown by! Reception have been very busy over the last 8 weeks - they thoroughly deserve a half term break!
Over the past two weeks, we've dived into two fantastic stories: "The Gruffalo" and "Room on the Broom." This week, the classroom has been buzzing with "Room on the Broom" and Halloween-themed arts and crafts. The children particularly loved using the pumpkins to develop their fine motor skills, transforming simple gourds into creative projects. Our outdoor play has been just as lively, with the mud kitchen becoming a magical potion laboratory where the children enthusiastically took on roles from both stories.
In Maths, we have focused on subitising and consolidating understanding of numbers 1-5. The children have shown a great grasp of these foundational concepts and have been confidently moving on to exploring 'more than' and 'fewer than'. Their progress has been wonderful to see!
To celebrate the rich diversity within our community, we've also been busy creating a variety of beautiful Diwali arts and crafts, exploring this important festival of lights.
From all of the reception team, we wish you all a restful (and spooky!) half term! We look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday 4th September 2025. (Monday is INSET day).
