Hello Year 1 Parents,
What an absolutely spectacular way to end the first half of the Autumn Term! The last two weeks have been packed with exciting learning and huge achievements. Your children have worked incredibly hard, and we are so proud of them!
Our Paddington Dress Up Day was an absolute triumph! Everyone looked wonderful—thank you for putting so much effort into the costumes. The children had a blast:
Becoming little chefs and making their very own delicious marmalade sandwiches!
Getting crafty by designing and creating a special Paddington bag.
In Writing, our budding authors produced amazing work! They wrote their own Paddington books, expertly retelling his story. We have some serious storytellers in Year 1!
In Maths, we've been focusing on mastering number names and numerals. Getting those words and symbols right is a big step, and they have done a super job!
We have been practising breaking whole numbers into parts using our Part Part Whole model.
We also spent time completing our end-of-half-term assessments in Science and History. These are a fantastic way for us to check their understanding and celebrate all the amazing knowledge they have gained this term!
We have finished our vital phonics assessments! This information helps us ensure your child is on the correctly levelled reading book and gets the best support to fill any learning gaps.
Action for Home: Please keep up the amazing work practising the phonics sounds, words, and tricky words we send home. Little and often makes a massive difference!
Reading Awards! Please keep reading at home with your child and write it in their reading record! We count every single read so your child can receive a very exciting reading award in assembly!
Name That Jumper! A polite but important reminder: please, please name your child's jumpers and cardigans. We've had lots go missing, and we can only return them to the right owner if they are clearly labelled. Thank you for your help!
We break up for half term now (Friday 24th October) and look forward to welcoming the children back to school on TUESDAY 4th NOVEMBER!
Thank you so much for all your wonderful support and enthusiasm this half term. We hope you have a lovely, well-deserved break!
Best wishes,
The Enthusiastic Year 1 Team!
