Dear Parents and Carers,
What a fantastic couple of weeks we have had! Our classroom has been buzzing with energy and enthusiasm as the children have dived into some exciting new topics. We've been so impressed by their hard work and are thrilled to share what we've been learning.
In English, we have been working on newspaper reports inspired by The Great Kapok Tree. The children have been learning how to write about deforestation, focusing on using direct and reported speech with correct punctuation. They have been working hard to include quotes and accurately report what people have said.
Our mathematical focus has been on multiplication. The children have been mastering the 6, 7, and 9 times tables and have also been learning about the inverse operation. They've been applying this knowledge to solve a variety of problem-solving and reasoning challenges.
In our Reading lessons, we have been focusing on comparing characters from different Roald Dahl books. The children have been analysing how James from James and the Giant Peach is similar to and different from Matilda and George from George's Marvellous Medicine.
In Computing, we have been learning about staying safe online. We have discussed the difference between being a bystander and an upstander when faced with online issues. The children then used the design tool Canva to create informative posters to share these important messages.
In Science, we have been describing food chains using our oracy skills. The children have been explaining the connections between different organisms and even recorded themselves presenting their knowledge.
In Geography, we have been recapping the names and locations of the continents. We have also been taking a closer look at the continent of South America and identifying some of its major cities on a map.
We are so proud of the children's hard work and engagement over these past two weeks. They've approached every task with enthusiasm and a fantastic attitude.
Thank you for your continued support. Have a wonderful half term.
