SATs Week - w.b. 12th May 2025
The past few weeks have been incredibly busy and enriching for our Year 6 pupils, filled with memorable experiences and significant learning across the curriculum.
Our History topic on World War II culminated in a truly impactful trip to the Imperial War Museum. The children thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to bring their classroom learning to life through the museum's powerful real-life exhibits. It was wonderful to witness their engagement as they explored artifacts, read personal accounts, and deepened their understanding of this pivotal period in history. Back in the classroom, their learning has been beautifully captured in some incredible double-page spreads. These visually engaging creations showcase the breadth and depth of their knowledge gained throughout the half term, demonstrating their ability to synthesize information and present it in a creative and informative way.
In Maths, the focus has been firmly on consolidating key skills in preparation for their upcoming SATs. Our Year 6 mathematicians have tackled fractions, decimals, and rounding with impressive effort and determination. Their resilience and positive attitudes during these revision sessions are truly commendable. They have shown a real commitment to strengthening their understanding and applying their knowledge to a variety of problems.
The children were also incredibly fortunate to participate in a fascinating workshop led by Arts Scholars. This hands-on experience provided a unique opportunity to engage directly with real historical artifacts. The children were tasked with carefully observing and describing these tangible links to the past, fostering their analytical skills and encouraging thoughtful discussion. This immersive session undoubtedly enhanced their understanding of historical context and provided a memorable learning experience.
We are immensely proud of the hard work and enthusiasm demonstrated by our Year 6 students this half term. Their engagement across all subjects has been fantastic, and we look forward to continuing their learning journey in the weeks ahead.
