Wow! We are now two thirds of the way through our time in Year 5. We hope you have a lovely and restful break over the Easter Holidays and we look forward to welcoming the children back for their last term in Year 5!
It has been a busy couple of weeks, with one week of lots of learning, and then this last week as a complete mix, with half the children having an amazing time in Devon, and the rest of the children completing lots of fun activities in school!
Last week in English we finished our narrative, writing as Bear to talk about how he became stranded on Bear Island. The children produced some beautiful work, really focussing on their using of fronted adverbials and expanded noun phrases. In Maths we spent a week looking at percentages, to understand them as parts out of 100 and to start finding equivalences between fractions, decimals and percentages. We finished our topic in Science by comparing life cycles of insects and amphibians and tried hard to 'Speak Like Scientists'.
This week, lots of the children in Devon have had a fantastic, but exhausting time. They have completed lots of activities, from surfing and coasteering to den building and ropes courses. Well done to all of you for your amazing teamwork and bravery, even when some things were scary! Please have a look on X and Instagram to see some of the highlights of our trip!
The children who haven't gone to Devon have still had a fun time in school. Our highlight was designing, making, and eating our own pizzas! We have also planned, completed and illustrated our own haiku poems.
Reading Diaries
We would like to remind you that all children should be reading at least 5 times a week. Reading more together is incredibly beneficial and it will help the children in school, especially in their English lessons!
Chrome Books
Chrome books should be brought to school and charged, every day.
