NURSERY
NURSERY
Spring 2 has been an absolute burst of sunshine and growth in Nursery! It's been incredible to watch each child blossom and their confidence bloom with every passing day.
We kicked off the term with a splash of colour and silliness for Red Nose Day! The children delighted in making the silliest faces and bringing lots of laughter to the Nursery. We followed this with a celebration of World Down Syndrome Day, where we decorated crazy socks – a wonderful way to celebrate our differences and uniqueness!
Our story time adventures took us on a journey with "The Growing Story." We had so much fun reflecting on our own journeys, from tiny babies to lively toddlers, and now, to our amazing selves in Nursery! This inspired some beautiful self-portraits, painted with care and detail, showcasing each child's individuality. We had thoughtful discussions about all the incredible things we can do as we grow!
With the warmer weather arriving, our outdoor classroom has become a hub of activity! We've been busy developing our gross motor skills, scrubbing and cleaning the floors with large brushes and soapy water. Our small world play has also been a huge hit, with pirate ships and mini figurines sparking incredible collaborative and imaginative adventures.
Inside, our PE gym sessions have been full of energy and excitement. The children have loved exploring the gym apparatus, climbing, scaling, and bouncing on the trampoline. It's wonderful to see their physical skills and confidence grow!
We are so proud of all the children and their amazing progress. Thank you for your continued support in making Nursery such a joyful and enriching place.
RECEPTION
What a fantastic final two weeks we've had in Reception! The children have been busy bees, buzzing with excitement and learning. We kicked things off with a splash of colour and silliness, celebrating Red Nose Day and World Down Syndrome Day. Our little ones looked amazing in their red outfits and wonderfully wacky socks! The children loved designing and creating their own crazy sock masterpieces, showcasing their creativity.
In Literacy, we've been captivated by the classic story, "The Very Hungry Caterpillar." We explored the fascinating life cycle of a butterfly, learning how a tiny caterpillar transforms into a beautiful winged creature. We also discussed the importance of making healthy food choices. This inspired some incredible crafty creations, with the children designing their own stunning butterfly designs using all sorts of exciting materials.
This led perfectly into our first class trip! We visited a local supermarket to purchase fresh fruit, which we then used to create delicious and colourful fruit salads. A tasty and educational adventure!
In maths, we have been consolidating our learning, deepening our understanding of numbers and their composition. We also explored the exciting world of patterns, creating all sorts of combinations. We even discovered the difference between odd and even numbers - learning if you can't share it fairly, it's an odd one!
The warmer weather has been a welcome treat, allowing us to spend more time in our outdoor classroom. Water play has been a huge hit, with the children exploring capacity using different sized pots and jars. Foamy play also added to the fun, providing sensory exploration and lots of giggles. Our budding architects have been busy building incredible structures, including a flying car that can take you anywhere! The marble run tuff tray has also been a huge hit, with the children working together to create exciting mazes.
We also took time to celebrate Mother's Day, creating heartfelt cards and artwork for the special women in our lives. The children loved using black and white whiteboard markers to draw portraits of their amazing mums.
This week, we've been learning all about the festival of Eid and the month of Ramadan. The children have been fascinated to learn about the different practices of Muslims and how they prepare for Eid. We even created our own beautiful henna hand designs, showcasing our artistic skills.
It’s been a truly wonderful end to the term, filled with learning, laughter, and memorable experiences. We hope you all have a fantastic break, and we look forward to seeing you again soon!
