NEWSLETTER - 2023/2024

Early Years re-development project.

Thank you for your patience while our early years playground area was redeveloped. We hope you agree that the new provision looks fantastic. The children have thoroughly enjoyed exploring their new playground area.

Mobile planters and new water play area in Forest School.

New outdoor occupational therapy area.

We were lucky to secure some additional funding from the Special Provision Capital Fund (Sutton Borough funding for projects) and using this we have developed our new outdoor OT space. The children will be able to use this all year round and can use the OT equipment to work on skills such as balance, coordination, teamwork, and regulation. The children have really enjoyed exploring this new area and I am sure you agree, it makes a lovely addition to our outdoor provision.

ANTI-BULLYING WEEK

SING UP DAY DIGI CHOIR 2023

It is fantastic to hear that pupils from all over the world, including pupils from LEO, who took part in the Sing Up Day Digi Choir event! This event is a wonderful way to celebrate the power of music and singing, and to bring people together from all different backgrounds.

The Sing Up Day Digi Choir is a virtual choir that is created by compiling videos of people singing from all over the world. This year's Sing Up Day anthem was "Blossom out", a song by Tomuri Spicer that celebrates the earth and our connection to the natural world around us.

I am sure that the Sing Up Day Digi Choir event was a wonderful experience for all involved. It is a great opportunity for pupils to share their love of singing with others, and to learn about different cultures and traditions from around the world.

RIGHTS RESPECTING SCHOOLS - UNICEF

PARKING

Please be considerate if you are driving to drop off/collect your child from school. Unfortunately a small number of people are parking dangerously and inconsiderately on Ridge Road, Beeches Road and the surrounding areas.

As we are an eco school, I would like to encourage parents and pupils to use more sustainable modes of travel to get to school where this is possible. I do understand that parents or carers will sometimes need to drive their children to school, however, I would urge where possible for parents/guardians to park away from the school and then walk in.

Please could you think of the safety of ALL our children and refrain from parking across residents driveways as this is an offence which could also result in a Penalty Charge Notice.

SCHOOL CROSSING PATROL OFFICER

Over the summer Sutton Council were unsuccessful in finding a new School Crossing Patrol officer (lollipop person) for Brookfield. Since then a recruitment freeze has come into place at the Highways and Transport section, which means recruitment for this role is on hold and there will not be a School Patrol Crossing officer at Brookfield in the near future. Please do write to your local MP to share any concerns about this decision.

While there is no School Crossing Patrol Officer can we please urge you to reduce your speed when driving outside the school and be aware that children will be crossing the road and may step out unexpectedly.

SCHOOL FUND

We pride ourselves on offering our children varied and exciting experiences and activities that help to support their learning of the curriculum. The School Fund will allow us to provide additional activities across all year groups.

We have a voluntary school fund donation of £10 a term / £30 a year per child or £40 for a family if there are siblings at the school. Parents can pay for School Fund online via our Arbor payment system,  go to Accounts - School Fund - Top Up Account.

We would like to thank you for your support.

PUPIL PREMIUM FUNDING

Pupil premium is additional funding allocated to all schools in England to support disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers.  This budget includes pupils who are currently entitled to free school meals, have been free schools meals in the past six years (FSM ‘Ever 6’), children that are cared for or adopted from care and children whose parents are in the armed forces.

We would like to remind all parents who are eligible, to apply for the Pupil Premium Grant.  This grant enables the school to provide additional support to our children where needed.  Examples of this are, access to extra-curricular clubs and additional support with specific areas of the curriculum.

Applying for this grant is very simple, it can be done online, for more information please see below:

Twitter and Facebook

Please follow @BrookfieldSM3 and @LEOacademies on Twitter and Facebook to be kept up-to-date with all of the exciting activities, learning and events that the children are participating in.

Twitter/Facebook are also the only form of communication shared by  the staff when the KS2 children are away on residential trips - seeing how much fun the children are having makes missing them not quite so bad, the children definitely do not look like they are missing home!

Please note that we only share photos of children who have photo permission and we only ever use their first name.  Also, we do not keep the photos that we share so if you see a photo of your child that you would like you can save these onto your own device by clicking on the 3 dots on the photo and selecting save.   Also if you see a post that interests you, please can we ask you to share/retweet.

If you would like your child to be included in our social media posts, please ensure that you have consented to social media.  If you are unsure please look at your child's profile on the Arbor app and contact the school office if you wish to make a change.
