We're incredibly proud of the children's hard work and dedication over the past two weeks as they've diligently consolidated their learning across all areas of the curriculum. It's been a busy and productive period, showcasing their growing knowledge and skills.
In Mathematics, our students have been diving deep into a comprehensive revision of topics covered throughout the entire academic year. This vital period of revisiting key concepts, from number and place value to geometry and statistics, has allowed them to solidify their understanding and ensure a strong foundation for future learning. We've seen their confidence grow as they tackled a range of challenges, reinforcing the essential mathematical building blocks.
Our English lessons have been particularly inspiring, with the children embarking on an ambitious and thoughtful project: writing persuasive letters to world leaders. Their task was to eloquently advise on how our world can achieve and maintain lasting peace. This exercise not only honed their persuasive writing skills, including argumentation, rhetorical devices, and formal letter structure, but also encouraged them to engage with significant global issues and express their hopes for a more harmonious future. We were truly impressed by the maturity and insight demonstrated in their letters.
In Design & Technology (D&T), the children transformed into budding chefs, exploring various food preparation techniques with enthusiasm and precision. They focused on essential skills like chopping and grating, learning the importance of safety and efficiency in the kitchen. A particular highlight was their practice of cutting using the bridge and claw grip techniques. It was fantastic to see them apply these methods with such care and understanding, demonstrating a really good grasp of safe and effective food preparation. Their practical skills are developing wonderfully!
Our financial education lessons saw the children unleash their inner marketers! They were tasked with creating persuasive posters using Canva to sell the latest water bottle. This engaging activity allowed them to explore key elements of advertising, including understanding target audiences, highlighting product benefits, and using visuals and catchy slogans to convince potential buyers. They showed great creativity and a developing understanding of how businesses promote their products.
Children are expected to complete the following:
At least 5 reads in their reading diary each week
Century is here! A piece of maths and English homework will be set every Thursday with a due date of the following Monday. The homework will appear at the bottom under 'assignments'. The pathway at the top is suggested additional work that can be worked through as and when but is not an expectation to be completed.
Times table rock stars does not have to be completed daily, but it is encouraged to practise as much as possible.
Children are not expected to do Century and Times Table Rockstars every evening at home, but little and often is ideal! Thank you for your support :)
Please note, the inside of the reading diaries have changed. There are dates on each page and a 'homework' section on the left hand side but please ignore these. Please see the image below of how to insert the reads into the new reading diaries.
