NURSERY
It feels like just yesterday we were welcoming your little ones into nursery, and now here we are, preparing to say goodbye for the summer! The past few weeks have been an absolute whirlwind of fun, learning, and some truly memorable moments. It's such an exciting time as our nursery leavers get ready for their big move to Reception! We've been busy helping them prepare for this next adventure. The children have had the chance to chat with their new teachers and explore their new classrooms, which has been a wonderful way to ease any worries and build excitement for September.
We had such a blast at Sports Day! Even with a bit of a rain shower trying to cool us down, everyone did so incredibly well to take part and show off their skills. We were all so proud of their enthusiasm and effort. And speaking of pride, I wanted to especially commend the children for their incredible composure during an unexpected fire alarm. They listened so well, followed instructions, and even though there were a few tears (which is completely understandable!), they demonstrated amazing resilience. When we got back into class, we talked about what had happened, and they handled it all so maturely. As a reward for their bravery, they got to enjoy a yummy ice lolly – well deserved!
Inside the classroom, we've continued to enjoy exploring our new resources. The children have particularly loved making faces with Mr. Potato Head and building with Stickle Bricks. These activities have been fantastic for discussing how we're feeling and developing their emotional vocabulary.
But the ultimate highlight of the year has to be our Beach Day! The children arrived at school so excited, dressed in their beach clothes and carrying their little suitcases, all ready to "board their flight" to the seaside. We had sun, sand, and water, and it was absolutely wonderful to hear their voices singing along to the music. What a fantastic way to celebrate!
This year has truly flown by, and we've enjoyed every single minute with your children. Each and every one of them has flourished beautifully in their own way, and I am so incredibly proud of them all.
I wish all of you a fabulous summer holiday filled with fun and relaxation. And to every child, the very best of luck on your exciting journey into Reception in September – we know you'll be amazing!
RECEPTION
We have finally come to the end of the school year, and what a year it has been! It has truly been an absolute pleasure teaching all the children this year, and we are so proud of all their achievements.
The end of the Summer 2 term has been filled with two weeks of summer fun learning, creating some wonderful final memories in Reception.
Reception took part in their very first Sports Day! Not even the rain could stop us as the children had great fun racing, jumping, hopping, and tackling the egg and spoon race. It was fantastic to see their enthusiasm and team spirit shine through.
Art Week was a whirlwind of colour, creativity, and collaboration, providing a wonderful opportunity for every child to explore and express their artistic talents.
In Jet Class, the children became miniature architects and world-builders as they tackled their shoebox worlds project. Using a variety of recycled materials, paint, glue, and clay, they meticulously planned and constructed incredible 3D scenes. Their imaginations ran wild, transforming simple boxes into vibrant under-the-sea worlds with glittering fish, prehistoric dinosaur lands roamed by towering clay models, and enchanting gardens where delicate tissue-paper fairies hid amongst the flowers. It was a fantastic showcase of their creativity, design skills, and developing fine motor control.
Meanwhile, Ruby Class embraced the power of teamwork with their magnificent collaborative art piece. They worked together to design and create a huge, bright red bus, with each child drawing a wonderful self-portrait to place in the windows, showing our Reception community travelling together. They also explored perspective and mechanics by creating brilliant pop-up pictures, where different settings and characters would spring to life from the page. This was a fantastic way to develop their skills in drawing, cutting, and working together towards a shared goal.
The highlight for many was our whole-school Art Week Showcase Assembly. We were bursting with pride as several of our young artists from both classes bravely stood up in front of everyone to present their creations. They spoke with such confidence and clarity about their artistic process and what inspired them, representing all of Reception beautifully. It was a truly inspiring week that demonstrated the incredible imagination and talent within our classes.
The excitement continued this week with our annual Beach Day! The children arrived at school ready for their holiday, pulling their suitcases and dressed in their finest holiday attire. We checked in at the airport with our passports and boarding passes, made our way through security, and boarded Brookfield Airlines. After a quick safety demonstration, we were whisked through the air, enjoying a snack and a drink before arriving in sunny 'Costa del Cheam' where pools, music, and sand awaited. A great time was had by all!
The absolute highlight of the week has been our graduation ceremony. We have been busy rehearsing and recapping all the amazing things we have learned this year. For the final assembly, the children proudly donned their graduation gowns as we celebrated their incredible journey through Reception.
It has been a phenomenal year. We wish you all a safe and amazing summer and send our best wishes to the children for a great time in Year 1!
