NURSERY
This week, we celebrated Nursery Rhyme Week, a fun-filled occasion filled with music, rhymes, and laughter. We explored some of the most beloved nursery rhymes, including "Jack and Jill," "Row, Row, Row Your Boat," "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes," "Hickory Dickory Dock," and "The Wheels on the Bus." The children were captivated by the rhythm and repetition of these rhymes, and they eagerly participated in the singing and actions.
"Jack and Jill" introduced the concept of counting and opposites, as the children learned about the hill and the well, the up and down, and the joy and disappointment. "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" encouraged teamwork and coordination as they pretended to row their imaginary boats, practising counting from one to five. "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" promoted body awareness and self-expression, as they touched their body parts and sang along to the catchy tune, reinforcing counting from one to five.
Throughout Nursery Rhyme Week, we witnessed the incredible power of rhymes in fostering language development, encouraging creativity, and promoting positive social interactions. The children's faces lit up with joy as they sang, danced, and played along, creating a vibrant and enriching learning environment.
In addition to our Nursery Rhyme Week activities, we also focused on enhancing the children's understanding of numbers and their ability to match objects to those numbers. We introduced the new water trays and jugs to the sand pit, providing a fun and engaging way to practise counting and transportation. The children eagerly filled their jugs with water and transported it to the sand pit, creating a wet mixture that was perfect for building sandcastles.
We're so proud of our nursery class and their dedication to learning. Their enthusiasm and eagerness to explore new things are truly inspiring.
