Because the Learning-Focused Lesson is divided into a sequence of several Learning Activities, a variety of types of experiences can be utilized to engage students. While the lesson may begin with a lecture to build basic knowledge and skills, the lecture should be interactive. As the lesson progresses Learning Activities should require more and more active involvement as students apply their learning.
You can also have a variety of experiences within one Learning Activity. For example, in one Learning Activity students might write down the key ideas from a reading, reach consensus with a partner or small group as to the key ideas, and take a gallery walk to review the ideas of the class.
