To learn and demonstrate professional workplace readiness skills, CJ students are required to "call in" via email prior to an absence using the format to the left. Failure to do so will result in loss of all daily workplace readiness skills points. Additionally, all assignments are updated in Google Classroom daily, and absent students are responsible for locating their work and turning it in on time when absent. If a student is too sick to complete work at home, the student has 3 days upon returning to school to turn in missing work. Many hands-on activities and guest speaker appearances cannot be recreated for absent students, thus students may be given a written assignment in place of the hands-on activity.

Students are expected to be in the classroom and sitting in their assigned seat working on the bell ringer assignment when the tardy bell rings. Being tardy will result in loss of daily Workplace Readiness Skills points, as well as consequences aligned with ECG's Tardy Policy. Students who are more than 10 minutes late to class are considered skipping. Students who do not turn in a daily bell ringer assignment on time due to being tardy will receive a ZERO for that bell ringer assignment.
