BADGE -
GATE ACCESS
Your badge is required at Blackberry, Grizzly, and Strawberry Gates to enter the Lab's hill site.
It is also required to enter Lab buildings.
BUILDING ACCESS
Your badge is required to access Lab buildings. All badges are set to open exterior doors M-F, 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. You can add additional access.
GERT / SECURITY TRAINING
GERT (General Employee Radiological Training) is required of ALL employees, and if your training has expired your badge WILL NOT work.
SES-0200 training is required of ALL new employees and recommended for those returning.
SITE ACCESS
Blackberry Gate: open 24/7
Strawberry Gate: open M-F, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. for entry & exit
Grizzly Gate: Entrance for vehicles from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Exit for vehicles, bikes, & pedestrians at all times. Bikers & pedestrians - call SOC for entry @510-486-6999.
You can request access to the Lab's hill site for a delivery driver, ride share, or a family/friend pickup or drop off.
SITE OPERATIONS CENTER
The SOC is open 24/7 and staffed by security officers. If you have any safety or security issues while on a Lab site and need assistance, call the SOC at 510-486-6999.
COVID PROTOCOLS
COVID protocols are subject to change. You can review all the safety COVID information from EHS.
COVID VACCINATION
Obtaining vaccination against COVID, including booster doses, are required of Lab employees.
FACE COVERS
Face covers are no longer required inside Lab buildings. They are always allowed. If community conditions change face covers may be required.
Masks are available at the Strawberry and Blackberry gates, and from Building Managers.
ON-SITE MEETINGS
On-site meetings are allowed at the Lab. Follow best practices to minimize the risk.
BUCKETLIST

The Lab's legacy began in 1931 when a young physics professor created the Radiation Laboratory on the UC Berkeley campus.

WILDLIFE
The Lab is home to a variety of wildlife. Cute as some might be, they are wild, and as one employee put it, "the Lab is not a petting zoo." Respect the wildlife by staying a safe distance away and driving at or below the speed limit of 15 m.p.h.
OFF HILL LOCATIONS
EMERY STATION EAST
Administrative assistance will be available from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with staff providing service on a rotating basis. The lobby receptionist area will be staffed on a rotating basis.
Non-lab operational space will be shared and assigned.
BUILDING 971
Building 971 at 6401 Hollis Street is currently undergoing renovations.
There are a few steps to access the building.
POTTER STREET
Building 977 at 717 Potter Street in Berkeley within the Aquatic Park Center of Wareham Development, near the Ashby exit off the Interstate 80/580 freeway.
9-1-1
If there is a life-threatening emergency dial 9-1-1.
The alarm boxes outside buildings also call 9-1-1.
Emergency responses are provided by the Lab's Security team, Alameda County Fire (on site), and UC Police.
ASSEMBLY AREAS
There are emergency assembly areas, marked with yellow signs, in different areas of the Lab.
Learn the location of the one closest to your workspace.
EVACUATION ZONES
There are six evacuation zones at the Lab's hill site. If the Lab needs to be evacuated for any reason, evacuations will proceed by zone.
LAB ALERT
LabAlert provides emergency alerts via email, telephone, and text message on Lab-issued or private cellular telephones.
OUTDOOR CAMERAS
Additional cameras have been placed around the Lab's grounds to improve traffic safety and security.
SAFE BUILDINGS
Safe buildings are designed to offer protection in the event of a fast-moving wildfire.
Look for the blue SAFE sign on buildings

SMOKING AREAS
Smoking is limited to one of the 19 designated outdoor smoking areas. Properly dispose of all smoking material.
WILDFIRE IS A DANGER AT THE LAB.
SPEED LIMIT
The speed limit on all roads at the Lab's hill site is 15 miles per hour for all vehicles, including bicycles.
SPEED SIGNS
15 m.p.h for all vehicles including bicycles. The speed sign monitors vehicle speeds at the Lab.
STATUS WEB PAGE
The Lab's status page, status.lbl.gov, is used to communicate emergency and other critical information.
CLEANING
Custodians will continue to provide frequent cleaning.
Cleaning services for areas that have been unused are available upon request.
FACILITIES WORK ORDERS
The Work Request Center can assist you in any work needs in or around Lab buildings.
FOOD & DRINK
Food trucks are providing food service from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot by Building 91 (IGB) and by Building 67. The cafeteria is permanently closed.

Shuttle stops have new signs that explain which shuttles stop at that location and the direction of travel.
