Access & Badges
BADGE APPOINTMENTS
Badges are required at the Lab. You will need a badge to enter the Lab, and also to access building exterior doors and some interior doors. Badges are now issued with an expiration date.
Your badge may not work if:
Your badge has an expiration date printed on it and that date has passed
Your appointment has ended
Your GERT training is not up to date. Check your training record. Take GERT training.
Your badge is broken
The badge office, B65A close to Blackberry Gate, is open M-F from 8 a..m. to 4 p.m. by appointment only.
BADGE, GATE ACCESS

Blackberry Gate: Open 24/7
Strawberry Gate: Open M-F, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. for entry and exit of vehicles, pedestrians, and bicyclists. This gate is open to employees only; no visitors or construction vehicles are allowed.
Grizzly Gate: Open at all times for exiting vehicles, pedestrians, and bicyclists. Vehicle entry with badge from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. M-F. Bicyclists and pedestrians can enter by calling the SOC at 510-486-6999.
BUILDING ACCESS
Your Lab badge is required to access Lab exterior doors and some interior doors. All employee Lab badges are set to open most Lab exterior doors M-F from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. You can request additional building and room access through the Lab's badge management system at access.lbl.gov. Supervisors can also use access.lbl.gov to request additional access for someone they supervise.

GERT & SECURITY TRAINING
GERT training is required of all Lab employees every two years. Your Lab badge will not work if your GERT training has expired. Check your training record. Take GERT training. Learn more >>
SES-0200 training is required of ALL new employees and recommended for those returning to work sites.
SITE ACCESS
Blackberry Gate: Open 24/7. Used by employees, shuttles, visitors, contractors, delivery services, and construction vehicles.
Strawberry Gate: Open M-F, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. for entry and exit of vehicles, pedestrians, and bicyclists. This gate is open to employees only and Lab shuttles; no visitors or construction vehicles are allowed.
Grizzly Gate: Open at all times for exiting vehicles, pedestrians, and bicyclists. Vehicle entry with badge from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. M-F. Bicyclists and pedestrians can enter by calling the SOC at 510-486-6999.
You can request access to the Lab's hill site for a delivery driver, ride share, or a family/friend pickup or drop off.
SITE OPERATIONS CENTER
The SOC is open 24/7 and staffed by security officers. If you have any issues while on a Lab site and need assistance, call the SOC at 510-486-6999.
