The Lab's mission is to serve humankind through science. As Lab citizens, employees are entrusted to care for the people, research, and resources that make this mission possible. This is stewardship, and it is commitment to stewardship and each other that brings us together in pursuit of the Lab's mission.
Stewardship is lived through our values at the Lab. The values are team science, the founding idea from E. O. Lawrence in 1931, coupled with service, trust, respect, and innovation.
The Lab is home to a variety of wildlife on its 202 acres. There are squirrels, turkeys, and deer, along with the wildlife less frequently seen such as rats, possums, skunks, raccoons, bobcats, and an occasional mountain lion. Do not interact with these animals and do not feed them or leave food out for them.
The goats are not at the Lab year-round. They are brought to the Lab in the spring and early summer to reduce the vegetation as part of the Lab's wildland fire protection strategy.
