Eligibility to Participate

• Each DOE National Laboratory will send one representative to the National competition. Participants must meet one of the following criteria: 

  • Worked in a postdoctoral position within the current calendar year (2023)

  • Received their Ph.D within the previous six (6) years

  • On a case by case basis may be another early career equivalent (for Labs w/ limited postdoc population), approvals must go through the lead organizers (nlresearchslam@lbl.gov)

Each Lab has two options for its selection process!

1. The national laboratories may choose to hold a local or regional SLAM event as part of their down-select for the national competition and use the outcome to select their representative.

2. If a national lab does not hold a local or regional slam, they must nominate two to three participants representing different topic areas. Submissions must be a three-minute video of the participant's talk, due September 30. The organizing committee will select the final participant for the respective Lab.
