BIO

Seong-Moo Yang received his Ph.D. in nuclear engineering from Seoul National University in 2019 and joined PPPL after. He is a staff physicist at PPPL, and his research focuses on 3D magnetic fields in tokamak to stabilize plasma instabilities. SeongMoo recently celebrated his fourth month as a newlywed by successfully getting over a three-year-long long-distance relationship with Korea. SeongMoo prepared the research slam with his wife to engage in deeper conversations with her.

ABSTRACT

This work discusses the Japanese art of broken dishes on error fields in fusion reactions. Like the art of broken dishes, scientists can take advantage of the error fields in tokamak. Rather than attempting to get rid of them, they can maintain and tailor them to sustain stable fusion reactions.
